Reserve July 10, 2010 for family reunion

Reserve Saturday, July 10, 2010, for our 2nd Annual James S. Williams Sr. Family Reunion.

The Second Annual James S. Williams Sr. Family Reunion will be held on July 10, 2010, the second Saturday in July. It will be held at the Club House of Beech Mountain Lakes, in Drums, PA. This is the club house of the association where Jim and Angie Williams live. It is located just south of the old Angela Park, on route 309, between Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton.

Jim and Angie were gracious enough to reserve the pavilion for that date. There is no charge this year.

Bring your picnic lunch and get ready for an afternoon of sun and fun such as swimming, tennis, shuffleboard, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, etc. There is a grill near the pavilion. Also available for our use is a nice playground for the young ones. It includes a sand play area, climbing toys, etc. Check out the photographs of the grounds.

The following notes are from Russell Williams. You have received contact information for Russ in a separate e-mail about a week ago.


The James S. Williams Sr. family held it's first family reunion in a number of years on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Lake Jean.

A few months ago several cousins (grandchildren of James S. Williams Sr.) met for lunch. It was suggested that a family reunion be arranged, and the second Saturday in July was selected. After some follow up discussions it was agreed that it would be held at Lake Jean.

We started to gather at Lake Jean around noon on Saturday. Eight of the picnic tables were moved together so we could all visit with each other. Many of us had not been together for years.

About 48 - 50 of us attended. We did not get an actual count, and some people came later and some had to leave early. The younger members of the family enjoyed their time swimming in Lake Jean.

A short 'family business meeting' was held by the senior members and a few others. It was determined that we should hold a family reunion next year on the second Saturday in July - 07/10/2010. The actual place had not been determined by the end of the day. Since then I have received several suggestions - I will add an entry to this blog in the near future.

We all quickly picked up our picnic things and headed to our cars when a rain storm started around 3:30. It turned out that it was a severe storm for the area.
